FAQS

  • I am based in New Jersey (cue “which exit” jokes) and also hold licenses to practice in Massachusetts, New York, and 40 other states (and D.C.). I currently offer virtual sessions.

  • The truth is, you don’t… yet. And you shouldn’t… yet. Reach out for a free 15 minute consultation and you’ll get a sense of whether you feel like you can talk to me. If you do, we can set up a first session. I usually tell people it can take at least 2-3 meetings to truly assess fit. I understand you may (and should!) be “interviewing” multiple therapists.

  • At the beginning, at least, I tend to be more structure so that you can know what to expect. This might look like a check-in question, setting an agenda, or mindfulness routine. Depending on what works for you, we might keep this or get more open-ended and flexible as the work unfolds. I tend to use a decent amount of humor in my work. This doesn’t land with everyone, and I welcome the feedback when it doesn’t.

  • I do not bill insurance companies for my work. If you have out of network benefits through your insurance, I can easily provide you with a superbill to submit so you can receive some reimbursement for my services.

My fees range from $250-$300 depending on type and length of session. In an effort to make therapy more accessible, I reserve a few slots for folks who need a sliding scale. Please do not hesitate to ask about this.

  • The first appointment or “intake” is a little different. While it is impossible to get to know the entirety of a human being in 50 minutes, I will do my best to understand what’s bringing you in now including your goals. I’ll ask you some questions about other parts of your life and your background. You do not HAVE to answer every questions, and are welcome to “pass.”

  • I wish there were a simple answer for this. Therapy really unfolds at a pace shaped by your goals, your nervous system, and what you’re hoping to work through. Some people find relief and clarity in a shorter period of time, while others choose to engage more deeply over longer stretches as their needs evolve. It’s also not unusual for people to be in therapy for a bit, take a break, and come back again when life things come up.

  • In some ways, yes, as is anything worth working for. That being said, I strongly believe in humor and playfulness and bring that into the work that I do. If we’ve laughed together during our sessions, I consider that a success.
